How to calculate Service Fees

Guide to Calculating Ocean Freight Charges

1. Principles for calculating small unit shipping charges (by kilograms)

1.1 Calculation of small service fees in the case of Volume Weight values

Example: The parcel weight 3 Kg , box size 12″ x 12″ x 12″.

✅Weight 3 Kg, Price for Ocean Freight are $7.5 per Kg

✅Weight by volume or Volume Weight =

12 x 12 x 12/366 = 4.72 Kg

(This means that the box can filled 4.72 Kg. Subtract it from the actual weight. The difference is 0.72 Kg, calculated at $3 per Kg.)

So, this package must be charged for Volume Weight because the Volume Weight value is greater than the actual weight.

There are 3 parts to the service charge method:

✅Part 1: Delivery fee for actual product weight

4 kg. x $7.5 = $30

✅Part 2 : Volume Weight 0.72 x $3 = $2.16

✅Part 3: Delivery fee in Bangkok metropolitan area = $15

So the total ocean freight charge is $30 + $2.16 + $15 = $47.16

Note:
The minimum ocean freight shipment weight is 3 kg per shipment.

1.2 Calculation of small service fees in the case where there is no Volume Weight value

Example: Parcel delivery size: width 10″  in, length 10″ in, height 10″ in, actual weight 15 Kg.

There are 3 parts to the service charge method:

✅Part 1, Shipping fee based on actual weight: 15 x $7.5 = $112.5

✅Part 2, Volume Weight: (10x10x10)/366 = 2.73 kg

The actual weight of the parcel is greater than the volume weight of the parcel.

Therefore, the service charge is based on actual weight = $112.5

✅Part 3: Delivery fee in Bangkok metropolitan area = $15

So, the total ocean freight charge is $112.5+$15 = $127.5

2. Principles for calculating shipping charges for large shipment (Pallet)

Example: Packages placed on a pallet, width 40″ in, length 48″ in, height 77″ in, actual weight 500 Kg.

✅Part 1: Calculate the shipping volume
(Width × Length × Height (inches) / 1728):
40 × 48 × 77 ÷ 1728 = 85.56 cubic feet

✅Part 2: Shipping cost: 85.56 x 22 = $1,882.3

✅Part 3 Shipping cost to the destination address in Bangkok is $75.00

Therefore, the total ocean freight charge is $1,882.3 + $75 = $1,957.30

3. Principles for Calculating Personal item Shipping Costs (Personal Shipping)

International standard for calculating ocean freight charges based on volume:

(Length 48″) × (Width 40″) × (Height “X”) ÷ 1728 = Cubic Feet
(Cubic Feet) × (Freight rate per cubic foot) = Shipping Cost

Example: Ocean Freight Cost Calculation

(Example for customers shipping personal belongings back to Thailand)

You have 11 boxes, each measuring 24″ (L) × 20″ (W) × 20″ (H), stacked together on a standard pallet size of 40″ × 48″.
The calculation is as follows:

Width 40″ × Length 48″ × Height 66″* = 126,720 cubic inches

Note: The shipping height must be measured from ground level including the pallet base, in accordance with international shipping standards.

After obtaining the cubic inches, convert cubic inches to cubic feet by dividing by 1,728:

126,720 ÷ 1,728 = 73.33 cubic feet

Once the cubic feet are calculated, multiply the cubic feet by the freight rate per cubic foot:

73.33 × $17.5 = $1,283.27

Total Shipping Cost

Therefore, the total ocean freight cost including delivery in Bangkok is:

Total Cost = $1,283.27 + $75 = $1,358.27

Important Notes

  • For deliveries to provinces outside Bangkok, additional charges will apply.

  • Personal ocean freight charges include import handling fees in Thailand and domestic delivery to the final destination within Thailand.
There will be no additional charges after the shipment is delivered to the customer. This service is provided on a Door-to-Door basis.
